I became a trustee of Fife Women’s Aid in July 2020.
My background is as a Registered Nurse and Health Visitor. I worked for over 20 years in the East end of Glasgow as a health Visitor and latterly as an Infant Feeding Advisor, a role in which I had to project manage and deliver a training programme (UNICEF Baby Friendly award) to all levels of NHS and Early years Local Authority staff in order to improve support for breastfeeding in the community. From 2014 until I retired in 2019, I worked as a Health Visitor in the Dunfermline area of Fife.
My work frequently led me to be offering support to women and children who were experiencing domestic abuse and I developed
experience at the “coal face” of the support these families need and of the services which Scottish and Fife Women’s Aid can offer.
Personally, I live in west Fife with my partner. We have 5 grown up children between us and 1 grandchild.
I am hoping to be an effective Trustee in an organisation whose aims and objectives I feel passionate about.
