I am a qualified nurse and trained initially as a Registered Nurse for Sick Children, then Registered Nurse and then completed my degree in Health Visiting. My involvement with Women’s Aid began in 1988 while completing my Health Visiting training in Dunfermline. I became one of the HV’s attached to a refuge in the town and from there my relationship developed.

For a long number of years I was part of the on call team at Dunfermline Women’s Aid then FWA. I recently retired from my NHS Fife post as Lead Nurse and now work as a bank Health Visitor. Prior to my retirement I implemented Family Nurse Partnership teams within Fife, this programme supports teenage parents for 2 year’s following the birth of the child.

Since my retirement I have been able to devote more time to my role as a Trustee and I am able to use my management experience to help support FWA. I currently sit on the Strategy sub group and also the HR sub group. Throughout my career I have been very interested in women’s health and in particular domestic abuse I am a strong advocate for the work undertaken by Fife Women’s Aid staff and Scottish Women’s Aid.
