My name is Jeannette Deacon and I am retired Social Worker and a Trustee with FWA.
I started my career in housing and worked with families where alcohol was a major issue, this led me to becoming a volunteer counsellor with Scottish Council on Alcohol. I then made the decision to pursue a career in Social Work, which was serving the local communities in Dunfermline, Rosyth and Cowdenbeath. I was keen on developing services and became a Development Officer with the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. I worked for them for over 20 years and retired as Director of Corporate Planning. This work mainly involved writing policies and dealing with compliance issues. During my time I also completed the Leading to Deliver Social Work Services course at RGU Aberdeen. Since retiring I have continued to work for short periods for both the Church and Fife Council Social Work dept. I enjoy sharing the knowledge and skills I have. My spare time is spent reading, baking and dining out with friends and family. I have 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren and one great grandchild all of whom bring great joy.
